Panchthar, June 3

It has come to the light that Padam Tamang killed school girl Sital Yonghang, 15, of Hilihang Rural Municipality, by slitting her throat after he suspected her behaviour regarding an affair that he had with the girl in Panchthar.

Police made public two persons arrested on the charge of killing Yonghang at a press meet and disclosed the motive for the killing. Police paraded Padam Tamang and Bhagirath Bastola.

Sital was murdered on the night of May 12. Bastola was arrested the next day while Tamang was nabbed from Damak yesterday.

Tamang had been at large after the incident.

DSP Narendra Kunwar said that Tamang and Yonghang had an affair. “Tamang started suspecting Yonghang’s behaviour. After that, he killed her with Bastola’s help,” said DSP Kunwar. Sital’s throat was slit at an empty house near her home.

Both Tamang and Bastola have been remanded to custody and an investigation has been launched, police said.
