Murderers of NC leader still on the run
Jajarkot, October 7
Six months on, since NC youth leader and social activist Rabindra Shamsher Shah was murdered, police have failed to trace the murderers. His dead body was found in a forest in Jajarkot’s Bheri Municipality on March 28.
“It’s been months and the police administration and the government have done depressingly nothing to bring to book those involved in the murder,” lamented the deceased’s brother Ramjung,
Speaking at a programme held in the district headquarters today to set up an award in the memory of the slain brother. The award was set up by Nepal Press Union Jajarkot with the support of Rabindra’s kin. Handing over Rs 100,000 for the fund meant for the award today, Ramjung demanded that murderers be brought to book soon.
“Following the murder, we tipped the police off about the persons involved in the murder but to no avail; the police administration has shown little interest to arrest the guilty,” the brother rued, expecting help of the local leaders, journalists and human rights activists to pressure police to catch murderers.
The deceased’s parents Yog Shamsher Shah and mother Shila Shah, who were also present at the programme today, urged support of the public in their fight for justice.
