RAUTAHAT: Sonar Society and Muslim Society on Thursday took part in the ongoing blockade at the border checkpoint in Rautahat, showing solidarity with the Madhes agitation.

Leaders of the United Democratic Madheshi Front have been staging sit-in at the Gaur-Bairganiya border checkpoint for the past 42 days.

“As we’ve been carrying out the round-the-clock relay hunger strike for the past 42 days with huge participation of people from various Madhesi communities, people from Muslim and Sonar communities also expressed solidarity with our protest,” said UDMF coordinator Ram Niwas Yadav.
