KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) Officiating President Ram Chandra Poudel on Saturday said that he was going to file candidacy for the post of party president in the upcoming 13th General Convention in order to respect sentiments of party cadres.

Talking to convention representatives arrived here in the Capital from various districts across the nation to take part in the convention scheduled for March 3, he said that aspirations of party cadres would be materialised once he wins in the elections in the convention.

“I am the one who believes in work. And specific position is required to carry out any work. So I have fielded my candidacy just for that purpose,” he said, asking party cadres to rest assured that he would fulfill aspirations of all.

He also clarified that he felt the need to resort to filing for presidential candidacy as the responsibility of fulfilling national interest has fallen on his shoulders.

Poudel also urged all convention representatives to cast their votes and stick to their decision firmly, not relenting to pressure from any quarters.

He said that NC has stood in such situation where it is given the responsibility to manage current situation of Nepal, apart from the responsibility to put things together within NC as well.
