Mystery disease grips kids

Ilam, June 20:

Classes in Fikkal secondary school, Ilam, were disrupted today after students began falling ill in classrooms.

The students complained of stomach-ache and dizziness.

One student each of grade II, VIII, IX and X of the Fikkal school showed these symptoms, said a teacher at the school, Kailash Bhakta Raj. Although a health worker said the disease grips children aged between 12 and 16 years, a seven-year-old second-grader, Ganga Maya Sunuwar, showed symptoms of the disease, Raj said. The students have returned home after treatment at a health centre.

Forty students of the Fikkal-based Panchakanya secondary school also complained of stomach-ache and dizziness yesterday and today.
