The party led by Resham Chaudhary's wife has eked out victory in Kailali's Bhajani Municipality and Joshipur Rural Municipality.
Nagarik Unmukti Party's Chitra Bahadur Chaudhary and Rekhadevi Kathariya have won the posts of chairperson and vice-chairperson in Joshipur Rural Municipality. While Chaudhary secured 4,903 votes to defeat Nepali Congress' Banshram Badayak, who won 3,368 votes, Kathariya bagged 4,581 votes against CPN-MC's Dirgharaj Binadi's 3,961 votes. Regarding the wards, while the party has won the seat of ward chairperson in wards 1, 3 and 6, coalition candidates won four wards.
UML bagged two wards.
In Bhajani Municipality, NUP candidates sealed victory by defeating coalition candidates. While Kewal Chaudhary has scooped victory for the mayoral post by defeating former mayor Sher Bahadur Chaudhary by over 3,000 votes, Raju Tiruwa beat another coalition candidate Gokendra Bhandari of Nepali Congress by 2,400 votes.
The party has won three wards in the local level, leaving the CPN-MC, CPN-UML and NC 3, 2 and 1 wards respectively.
