NA Chair urges govt to table key bills promptly

KATHMANDU: National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Prasad Timilsina has urged the government to table the necessary bills in the federal Parliament promptly. He also called on the government to speed up development and construction works.

Talking to mediapersons in Chitwan, the Upper House Chair was quoted in Rastriya Samachar Samiti as saying that some of the bills had to be passed as of September 18 and that they have been goading the government for that.

He further said that two bills which have already been tabled in the National Assembly would be passed within the deadline.

The National Assembly chairman stressed the need of maintaining peace, and law and order in the country so that the citizens could carry out their businesses freely. He also insisted that any problem should be resolved in keeping with the country's laws.

The government on Wednesday decided to table four bills related to fundamental rights in the federal Parliament.

The bills include those related to the amendment of Caste Discrimination and Untouchability Act 2011; Right to Housing; Social Security; and Protection of the Victims of Crime. The government also set the floor price of paddy for FY 2018-19 at Rs 2,331.22 for Mota Dhaan and Rs 2,460.57 for Madhyam Dhaan.
