A meeting of the National Assembly (NA) has approved the Food Hygiene and Quality Bill-2077 BS and Standard Weights and Measures (Fifth Amendment) Bill-2078 BS, today.
The bills were tabled in the meeting by Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, on behalf of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.
Lawmakers Prakash Pant, Anita Devkota, Ram Narayan Bidari, Maya Prasad Sharma, Khimlal Bhattarai, Thagendra Prasad Puri, Ganga Kumari Belbase, Uday Sharma Poudel, Bimala Poudel Rai, and Khimlal Devkota had participated in the discussions while Minister Karki had responded to their queries regarding the Food Hygiene and Quality Bill in the meeting.
Similarly, the session of NA today also unanimously passed the Standard Weights and Measures (Fifth Amendment) Bill-2078 BS. Before this, the NA had held discussions on the bills in addition to related reports from the Legislation Management Committee.
Taking part in the discussion on the bills, CPN (UML) lawmaker Komal Oli had put forth her opinion on the bill while Minister Karki responded to the lawmakers' queries.
The National Assembly will next meet at 1:00 pm tomorrow.
