Death threat

CHITWAN: Bishnu Prasad Dhital of Bharatpur-14, who had expected to live a prosperous life after sending his son abroad, is living a traumatic life, instead. An unidentified person has been demanding Rs 1 million and threatening the life of his son continuously for two months now. He could not lodge a complaint with police as the person has warned him not to do so. He added, "I am scared to receive phone calls from foreign countries.” His son had left for Japan in 2007.

Janakpur rape case

Kathmandu: National Women's Commission (NWC) has claimed that Bahuram Jha, the police post in-charge, was responsible in the rape case of a woman at a police post in Janakpur. In a report made public by the NWC, It has urged the government to probe into the case and bring out the facts. The commission pointed out flaws regarding the process of arresting and handling of a woman. NWC urged for a women-friendly environment in police posts.

VDC secy thrashed

JANAKPURDHAM: A youth thrashed a VDC secretary after taking him under control, in the premises of the District Development Committee Dhanusa on Wednesday afternoon. Raj Kumar Yadav of Chora Koyalpur VDC thrashed Kishori Prasad Yadav, who looks after the Chora and Goth Koyalpur VDCs. Police detained the assailant Yadav following the incident.

Girl beaten to death

RAUTAHAT: A ten-year-old girl has been mercilessly beaten to death by her neighbours at Bhalohiya VDC in the district. Kanchan, the daughter of Chandardev Mandal, breathed her last while being rushed to Gaur hospital. The victim's family has claimed that a local Shankar Das and his family members killed Kanchhan by hurling stones at her. The police have arrested four persons in connection to the incident.
