Over 50 houses gutted

Duhabi: Over 50 houses belonging to thirty families were gutted in a fire on Friday at Parastokitole in Duhabi VDC-1. According to Netra Baruwal, Police Inspector, Area Police Office Duhabi, goods and property worth over Rs 15 million was destroyed in the fire. Dozens of cows, hens, goats and ducks including jewellry, utensils and other valuables also turned to ashes. However, the fire was taken under control by the concerted efforts of locals, police force and fire fighters. Meanwhile, a team led by Chief District Officer, Ram Prasad Thapaliya distributed Rs 1,500 to each of the thirty families of the victims as an immediate relief. Local youths and various political parties have also started collecting relief materials.

One killed in mishap

PARASI: A person was killed and 25 injured when a bus heading towards Butwal turned turtle at Daunne Pahad along East-West highway in Nawalparasi on Friday. According to the police, the deceased has been identified as 25-year-old Sunil Bahadur Nepali. Among the injured, 18 persons have been sent to Lumbini Zonal hospital, 5 persons to Bharatpur Hospital and remaining two returned home after treatment at a local clinic.
