Unusual hailstorm
POKHARA: Hailstorm that struck Lekhnath Municipality and adjoining areas on Sunday evening destroyed crops in the areas. According to locals, the hailstorm lasted for an hour. Budhi Bazaar area saw the highest impact. The hailstorm heaped up to 1 foot in the area. Local Ganesh Adhikari said it was the heaviest hailstorm to come in a decade. He added, “I have never seen hailstorm lasting for an hour.’’ Locals of Sildhjure and Sikles areas said that the hailstorm also struck their areas.
Two killed in mishap
DAILEKH: Two persons were killed while four injured critically when a tractor met with an accident at Septi in Khadkabada VDC on Saturday. The tractor belonging to Kanchhanga Construction Company had skidded 200 meters off the road. The deceased have been identified as Birendra Khadka of Khadkabada-4 and the tractor driver Bir Bahadur Arkhali of Pipalbot-5. The injured have been rushed to Surkehet for treatment.
Two held with weapon
KATHMANDU: The police arrested two persons, including a woman with a pistol and nine rounds of bullets in Chuchchepati on Sunday. AIG Madan Bahadur Khadka, police commissioner, said they were held after a tip off provided by intelligence officials. The identities of those arrested have not been disclosed yet as an investigation into the case is underway. “We are investigating to ascertain why they possessed weapon,” Khadka said. They are kept in Metropolitan Police Circle, Bouddha.
