Youths thrash cops
Khotang: A group of youths on Saturday afternoon assaulted police personnel at the Jalapa Police Post. Assistant Sub-Inspector Man Bahadur Mishra and head constable Dik Bahadur Karki were injured in the incident. They are undergoing treatment in the district hospital. According to Tek Bahadur` Tamang, District Superintendent of Police, a gang of about 35 youths thrashed the police personnel after they barged into the office. While ASI Mishra sustained minor injuries, Karki was critically hurt in the attack. Police have detained five persons in connection with the incident.
Goit cadres held
Birgunj: Police on Sunday arrested three cadres of Akhil Tarai Mukti Morcha (Goit Samuha) who were on the wanted list for murder and abductions in the Tarai. According to District Police Office Parsa, those detained are ATMM Parsa in-charge, Subashchandra Bosh, Ram Prasad Chauhan and Dewa Singh. Police said the detainees may have been involved in the murder of Ananta Khadka, the bodyguard of former Acting Chief District Officer, Parsa, Bam Bahadur Malla.
Six houses gutted
SINDUPALCHOWK: Six houses were gutted in a fire in Tatopani-3, Liping, on Saturday. Property worth Rs 2 crore was destroyed in the incident. According to the police, the fire broke out from the house of Lundup Lama due to a short circuit. Ek Narayan Koirala, Police Inspector, District Police Office, said that one house was pulled down to stop the fire from spreading to other houses. Locals, a joint team of the Armed Police Force and Nepal Police and two fire engines brought the fire under control.
