One dead, five hurt

BIRGUNJ: A person was killed and other five injured when a motorcycle hit passersby on Tuesday night at Baipas road in Parsa’s Bhawanipur VDC. Seventeen-year-old Ranjit Kumar Raut of Bhawanipur VDC-4 died while crossing the road when the motorcycle hit him. According to Ward Police Office Shreepur, Ashok Patel and Rupesh Patel of Bhawanipur-4 and three bike riders sustained injuries. All the injured are undergoing treatment at the Narayani Sub-regional Hospital. The District Police Office Parsa has taken the motorbike under control and the dead body

has been handed over to his family after autopsy.

Snowfall in Ghunsa

TAPLEJUNG: Residents of Ghunsa, Taplejung, have been surprised after they were tricked by the untimely snowfall this year. They had recently returned from Phale, a village where they had spent two months to avoid snowfall. However, they received the snowfall soon after they returned to their village. “We have been unable to even kindle fire in kitchen as there are no woods and other necessary things,” Dawaphuti Sherpa, who had returned form Phale three days ago, said over the telephone. Local Doma Shrepa said she was facing difficulties for cooking as they were unable to move out to fetch water. According to Chhamje Shrepa, a local, the snowfall was the heaviest this year.

Cops sued for murder

PHIDIM: Claiming that his father and younger brother had died due to the extreme physical torture in police custody, Indra Bahadur Gyangmi Magar of Prangbung-4 lodged a murder case against 11 persons. He has lodged the case against ASI Phiral Kumar Mahato, Chief, Police Post Prangbung, Head Constable Indra Prasad Singh, Constable Ganga Tamang including others. A police team has been deployed to detain other accuse. Earlier in February, Dal Bahadur Gyangmi Magar had died in police custody and his son Bikram had succumbed to injuries at BPKIHS in Dharan.
