Would-be mom dead

CHARIKOT: A pregnant woman was killed when a tree fell over her in Jugu-7, Falduk, on Wednesday morning. Twenty-four year old Manju Nepali, of Jugu-3, who had been to a local forest to collect firewood, was killed. According to Sahadev Budhathoki, a local Maoist cadre, Manju was hit by a tree that fell after being hit by another tree that was

being felled by villagers. Manju died on the spot.

Schools shut

PHIDIM: Educational institutions across nine districts east of Arun River have remained closed for the third consecutive day on Wednesday due to educational strike called by students’ union affiliated to Limbuwan State Council. Property gutted

KHANDBARI: Property worth Rs 200,000 was destroyed when a house of Bhakta Bahadur Chauhan in Madirambeni-7 caught fire on Wednesday. According to Police Inspector Prakash Sharma, grains, clothes, important documents including valuables were destroyed as the house turned into ashes in the fire. He said, despite efforts, the fire could not be brought under control. The cause of the fire is yet to be known. The victim’s family is taking shelter in the house of a neighbour.
