Two killed in blaze

PHIDIM: Two persons were killed in a fire that destroyed two houses in Phidim, the district headquarters of Panchthar, on Friday night. The bodies have been charred beyond recognition. The destroyed buildings belong to Saraswati Rijal and Devendra Phago. According to police, the fire had started from Taplejung Hotel on a main street in Phidim. Nine shops in the two buildings were also gutted. The destroyed property is estimated to be worth Rs 11 million. Red Cross, local Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as other organisations distributed relief to the victims.

Collision claims 2 lives

DADELDHURA: Two persons were killed and four injured when a bus and a jeep collided head-on at Syaule Bazaar in Bhagkhor on Friday night. According to police, the dead have been identified as driver Tek Bahadur Aier of Bheta in Amargadhi-1 and Chandradevi Aier. The driver died on the spot while Chandradevi succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment. Other injured — Ishwori Devi Aier, Shyam Aier, Puran Aier and Karan Aier — are receiving medical care in Team Hospital.
