5 killed in accidents
Hetauda: Four persons, including central treasurer of Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party, were killed in a jeep accident in Bhimphedi- 8, Makwanpur, on Friday afternoon. The jeep heading to Janakpur from Kathmandu had skidded 500 meter off the road. The dead have been identified as TMLP central treasurer Shrikrishna Yadav, Arun Yadav and Parmeshwor Shah of Dhanusha and driver Bhola Yadav of Mahottari, according to Area Police Office, Bhimphedi. They said that they were struggling to take the bodies out of the steep gorge downhill. Meanwhile, in another incident, Pashupatiram Acharya of Birgunj-10, was killed in motorcycle accident near Amlekhgunj, Bara. According to Area Police Office, Simara, Acharya, who was seriously injured after a tanker hit him, had died while being rushed to Hetauda for treatment. Thirty-two year old Acharya was also the programme coordinator of Children's Welfare Society, Makwanpur.
Envoy’s pill for peace
KATHMANDU: Ambassador of Denmark to Nepal Finn Thilsted on Friday said that without addressing the impunity prevalent in the country it would be difficult to lead the peace process to a logical end. Speaking at a programme organised by Reporter's Club Nepal Ambassador Finn said those affected by the decade-long insurgency demand justice. He added that there has not been any satisfactory progress in the peace process. However, recently formed High-Level Political Mechanism has raised some hope, he added. The envoy opined that political parties had realized that they need to make an understanding over issues. Federalism, forms of governance and inclusiveness were the vital issues of the new constitution, he added.
RPP-Nepal’s memo
Rajbiraj: Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal on Friday sent a memorandum to Constituent Assembly Chairman Subas Chandra Nembang through Saptari Chief District Officer. RPP-N stated that political parties were not serious about drafting the new statue within the stipulated time. Central deputy chairman of the party Kishori Mahato, central deputy-chairman, RPP-N submitted the memorandum to Hom Bahadur Khadka the acting CDO on Friday afternoon. RPP-N accused major political parties of not being serious though they knew that the country was plunging into peril and a possibility of internal conflict loomed large. The party also claimed that the big parties were engaged in petty politics to gain state power. The party said major political parties were hatching conspiracies to extend the CA's tenure unconstitutionally. The party urged Nembang to act against extending CA's tenure.
