2 killed in mud slide

MAHOTTARI: Two women died on the spot after they were buried in a mud slide at Hattilet of the district on Friday afternoon while 21 others were injured. The deceased have been identified as Panchamaya Pariyar, 26, and Narbada Purbachhane, 30, of Krishannagar VDC, police said. Critically injured Pampha Pariyar, Manu Pariyar and Manmaya Darlami are undergoing treatment in Janakpur while others are being treated in the local health post. The locals and the police rescued the injured from the incident site.

KATHMANDU: The Judicial Council (JC) headed by Chief Justice Ram Prasad Shrestha on Friday discussed complaints filed against judges of appellate and district courts.

Emerging from the meeting, Jivan Hari Adhikary, secretary, JC, said, “It was an initial discussion on the complaints and report produced after an initial investigation.” According to him, dozens of complaints are pending against the judges in the JC.
