Pneumonia cases up

PARASI: With the rise of wintry cold, the number of patients suffering from pneumonia in Prithvichandra Hospital at the district headquarters Parasi has been increasing lately. Around 15 to 20 patients suffering from the disease have been visiting the hospital daily for treatment. The disease mainly affected children and elderly, said Dr RS Deep. Some private medical halls in the district have also been looking after the patients suffering from the disease.

Lhosar festival

KASKI: On the occasion of Gurung’s new year Lhosar, a three-day Lhosar Festival begun in northeast Bhachowk Village Development Committee of Kaski on Wednesday. Local Lamtari Youth Club organised the fair in assistance with Nepal Tourism Board for promoting tourism. Lawmaker Krishna Bahadur Gurung inaugurated the festival amidst a function. Bhachowk, a Gurung settlement located at 30km away from Pokhara, is rich in natural beauties and biodiversity. Football, volleyball, folk duet song competition, quiz contest in the Gurung language and other programmes are scheduled during the festival, organisers said. Former VDC chairman Man Bahadur Gurung said such programme in Gurung language would help preserve their language and culture.

FNJ demand

DADELDHURA: The far-western chapter of the Federation of Nepali Journalists has demanded to the government to form a high-level judicial commission to probe into the killing and attacks on journalists in the region at different times in the past. A gathering of FNJ representatives held in Patan of Baitadi also regretted failure of the government to book the assailants of journalists. It also drew the attention of the government as journalists are still being targeted.
