NEB planning to allow schools to conduct Grade XI exams
Bhaktapur, October 31
National Examination Board is planning to authorise higher secondary schools to conduct final examinations of Grade XI independently from next academic year.
With this, nearly a three-decade long practice of conducting Grade XI examination at the central level will come to an end and board examinations will be conducted for Grade X and XII only.
According to Prof Chandra Mani Paudel, chairman of NEB, Grade X (SEE) examinations will be conducted at the provincial level meeting the criteria set by NEB. “However, board examinations will be held for Grade XII and we are also going to implement grading system in Grade XII,” he added.
Meanwhile, NEB has decided to hold an international conference from November 2 to 4 in Dhulikhel to discuss new pedagogical approaches and evaluation system.
“Officials from the examination boards of six countries, including the UK, India and Pakistan, have been invited in the conference,” said Paudel.
