NPC to set up Public-Private Partnership Centre

KATHMANDU: The National Planning Commission (NPC) is establishing a 'Public-Private Partnership Centre' aimed at pursuing the infrastructure development through partnership between the public and the private sectors.

NPC member Dr Sunil Babu Shrestha stated that the Centre would be brought into operation within a month after getting approval for its human resources, including three Under-Secretary level posts, from the government.

Shrestha added that initiatives would be taken through the Centre to enhance the private sectors’ active involvement in the infrastructural development.

As per the draft prepared by the NPC, the Centre would be headed by a Joint-Secretary and an Under-Secretary would head each of the technical, administration and accounts sections.

Shrestha said the Centre would continue for a long term so that the government and the private sector initiatives could be taken ahead in an integrated way.
