National unity govt is the need of the hour, says Dahal
Unified CPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal today said that a national unity government was indispensable to resolve national crises, including the problem seen in the plains.
Talking to mediapersons at Janakpur airport, Dahal said that despite his efforts he had failed to form a consensus government of late. “Once the budget is presented, the process of forming a national unity government will kick off again,” Dahal added.
He stated that the government had brought out the policy and programme as per the nine-point agreement reached between the Prime Minister and UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and him.
Stating that the government had formally sent an invite to the United Democratic Madhesi Front for talks, Dahal held that the process of resolving the problems of Madhesi and ethnic and indigenous people had started.
“The consensus venture has started and we are sealing a deal with the agitating parties for amendment to the constitution. The amendment to the statute is, however, not possible without consensus,” Dahal said.
Dahal urged the UDMF to come to the table of talks taking the government invite as a base. “The government has sent a formal invite.
So, the UDMF cannot and should not accuse the government of buying time,” Dahal stated.
