Nationwide campaign for statute, peace concludes

MAHENDRANAGAR: The nationwide tour launched to exert pressure for peace and writing the constitution within the stipulated time frame ended in Mahendranagar today. The tour ended with a corner meet.

The objective of the tour was to help end deepening mistrust among the political parties and press for timely drafting of the constitution and take the peace process to a logical conclusion. The tour had started from Mechi in the East.

Meanwhile, speakers at the corner meet pledged to continue their pressure programmes in the days to come.

Dipak Kumar Bhattrai coordinator, Nationwide Youth Pressure, said that the tour had come to an end.

Stating that they had good interactions with civil society, political parties and citizens during the campaign, Bhattrai said, "There is a panic among the mass that the constitution will not be drafted in the given time frame due to worsening political scenario."

The political parties have to prove the public wrong by drafting the statute on time, he added.

Further, the youths have announced that they would launch new pressure programmes after consultation with civil society and stakeholders in the capital.
