Nationwide Covid-19 tally hits 266,816 with 270 new cases registered on Friday

KATHMANDU: Nepal on Friday reported 270 new cases of coronavirus infection from across the country. With this, the nationwide infection count has advanced to 266,816.

Of the total cases, 90 are females while 180 are males.

In the past 24 hours, 172 new cases were logged in Kathmandu valley.

Likewise, 390 people who were earlier infected with the virus are reported to have recovered in the past 24 hours as per the latest data provided by health ministry. As of today, 260,567 individuals have recovered from the novel coronavirus infection. The recovery rate, as such, is 97.7 per cent.

Nepal’s active Covid-19 case count currently stands at 4,301.

Meanwhile, five more fatalities from the disease have taken the total death toll to 1,948.

According to the health ministry, 3,084 PCR tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. With this, a total of 2,005,125 PCR tests have been carried out in Nepal till date.

Currently, there are 231 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

Globally, more than 93 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while over 1.9 million people have lost their lives to Covid-19. Likewise, over 66 million people have recovered from the disease and over 24 million cases are still active.

On Thursday, Nepal’s coronavirus case count reached 266,546 with 403 newly confirmed cases.
