KAWASOTI: A woman has been beaten up by a local youth of Kolhauwa-8, Nawalparashi district, on the allegation of practicing witchcraft.

The 69-year-old Som Kumari Mahato of Kolhuwa-8 of the district was severely beaten by Lal Bahadur Thanet last night.

The victim's hand has been broken in the attack, Police Station in Kolhuwa stated.

The alleged attacker Thanet was said to have broken into the victim's house and started beating her on allegation of practicing witchcraft, according to the victim's son Kul Bahadur Mahato.

A complaint has been filed by the victim's family with the Police Station in Kolhuwa and an investigation into the case is underway, shared Rajendra Basnet, In-Charge of the Police Station.

The alleged attacker has been absconding following the incident.
