Nawalpur acquires its first ever fire engine

NAWALPARASI, July 14

A new fire engine was bought for Nawalpur area in Nawalparasi today.

Kawasoti Municipality Office bought the fire engine to control fire-related incidents in the area. The fire engine is expected to benefit locals.

Krishna Prasad Panthi, executive officer of the municipality said the machine was worth Rs 6.55 million.

“Ministry for Local Development had offered six million rupees while Rs 550,000 was managed from internal source of the municipality,” he informed. He added that it was the first fire engine in Nawalpur and it would be beneficial for 12 VDCs along with Kawasoti, Debchuli and, Gaindakot municipalities of the area.

Earlier, the locals had to depend on neighbouring Chitwan district whenever fire broke out.

Nawalpur folks had been demanding a fire engine for many years. Panthi said that the machine would be operated after staffers were appointed. “Two drivers and four firemen will be appointed soon,” he said.
