KATHMANDU, JANUARY 25

Candidates from the Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) emerged victorious in Lumbini Province during the National Assembly (NA) elections held on Sunday.

Ram Kumari Jhankri of the UML won in the women's category, while Chandra Bahadur KC of the Nepali Congress secured victory in the others' category. Similarly, Basudev Ghimire of the Nepali Congress triumphed in the disabled/minorities category.

Jhankri obtained a vote weightage of 6,303, defeating her nearest competitor, Durga Kumari Bhandari of the Nepali Communist Party, who received 1,362. Another candidate, Padma Pundit of the Rastriya Janamorcha, secured 152.

KC won with a vote weightage of 5,977, against 1,832 secured by his nearest rival, Brihaspati Adhikari of the Nepali Communist Party. Bam Bahadur Khatri of the Rastriya Janamorcha received 133 vote weightage in the same category.

Ghimire, winning in the disabled/minorities category, obtained 6,322, while his nearest rival, Sarjan BK of the Nepali Communist Party, received 1,601.

A total of 78 votes-30 from female and 48 from male voters-were cast at the provincial level, while 208 votes were cast at the local level. At the provincial level, five voters were absent, and at the local level, nine voters did not cast their ballots.
