NC blamed for statute not being implemented
Bhojpur, October 6
Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum-Democratic Chairman Bijay Kumar Gachhadar today said that the Nepali Congress’ violation of a 16-point agreement reached among the four parties prior to the promulgation of the new statute had crated complications in implementing the constitution.
Talking to mediapersons in Biratnagar, Gachhadar said, “NC’s violation of the 16-point agreement reached among Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, CPN-Maoist Centre and his party before promulgation of the statute had caused problems in the implementation of the constitution.”
He stressed the need to seal a new agreement for execution of the constitution. He claimed that the 16-point agreement was inked with his and the CPN-Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s initiative.
Gachhadar said that holding the election for all three levels by January 2018 was mandatory to execute the new statute. He urged the big parties and their leaders to forge consensus to amend the statute before Chhat festival.
“Consensus among the major parties is a must to give a way out to the country,” he said, urging the big parties to address the genuine demands raised by Madhesis and Tharus.
