POKHARA: An active member of the Nepali Congress (NC) has been murdered in Lekhnath Municipality of Kaski district on Thursday night.

The body of Ramji Paudel ‘Badal’ was found at Gagangaunda on Friday morning.

Later, anguished locals obstructed vehicular movement on the Gagangaunda road along the Prithivi Highway.

According to a preliminary investigation, Paudel had a verbal spat over a minor issue with the party cadres during a meeting at Talchowk on Wednesday.

Locals suspected that he might have been killed for the same reason.

Rajendra Mani Lamichhane, Chairman of the Lekhnath Municipal Committee later confirmed that Paudel had a minor dispute with the party cadres during the meeting on Wednesday evening.

Lamichhane said that he was planning to settle the dispute yesterday afternoon but could not due to his busy schedule.

He further informed that he had telephoned his wife after Paudel could be contacted on his mobile phone yesterday night.

Lamichhane said that he again telephoned his wife this morning and came to know about the sad news.

Police said that they are investigating into the case.
