NC (D) to press for federalism
Kathmandu, January 29:
The Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting of the Nepali Congress (D) has decided to press for the restructuring of the state along federal lines.
A statement signed by the party General Secretary Bimalendra Nidhi after the conclusion of the meeting today has also reinforced the need for constituent assembly polls after delimiting the electoral constituencies on the basis of population and geographical proximity. The party has also said that the CA elections should be conducted on the basis of proportional representation system. “Given the backdrop, there is a need to effect an amendment in the interim constitution so that the demands raised by members of the terai communities, women and ethnic communities is duly addressed,” Nidhi said.
