NC gears up for polls
Kathmandu, August 30:
The Nepali Congress (NC) today formed an 11-member ‘party manifesto preparation committee’ under the coordination of central leader Chakra Prasad Bastola for the constituent assembly elections.
The party’s central working committee meeting held at the Prime Minister’s official residence at Baluwatar today also directed the party’s sister organisations to recommend candidates for the polls.
The NC also formed a CA Election Campaign Committee with the party’s vice-chairman Sushil Koirala as its coordinator and a 31-member committee with central member Arjun Narsingh KC as the coordinator for election publicity.
The meeting also directed the task force of the party to accelerate the process of unification of the party with the NC-D, KC told this daily.
In the meeting, the party’s central members raised doubts on whether the polls would be held as scheduled and would be free and fair.
NC president and PM, Girija Prasad Koirala, urged his partymen to overcome challenges in holding free and fair polls.
