NC leader Khum Bahadur Khadka passes away
KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress senior leader Khum Bahadur Khadka has passed away while undergoing treatment at the Apollo hospital in New Delhi, on Friday, NC spokesperson Bishwa Prakash said. Khadka was 67.
The NC leader, who was admitted at the hospital, died on the 39th day due to multiple organ failure at around 5:15 pm on Friday.
Speaking to THT Online over the phone, spokesperson Sharma said "Khadka was undergoing treatment for complications related to kidney, chest and nervous system before dying of multiple organ failure."
A team of specialist doctors including kidney transplant specialist Dr. Sandeep Gulariya, chest specialist Dr. Rajesh Chawal and Neuro specialist Dr. Mukul Barma had attended senior Nepali politician Khadka at the hospital.
Kidney transplant specialist Dr. Sandeep Gulariya had performed kidney transplant on Khadka almost 2.5 years ago at the same hospital.
Khadka, who had won all three parliamentary elections from Dang district after restoration of democracy in 1990, held ministerial portfolios for 12 times in his political career which turned pretty controversial during the later half.
The body of Khadka would be flown back to Kathmandu from New Delhi tomorrow evening, according to spokesperson Sharma.
He is survived by wife, son and daughter.
Meanwhile, political leaders and people from different walk of lives have sent in condolences to Khadka's family.
