DHANGADI, MARCH 15
Nepali Congress deputy general secretary Prakash Sharan Mahat said his party was ready to lead the government if the need arises.
"NC must take charge of the government, but this should be in a usual and natural fashion, not by accepting unnatural conditions," said the NC leader, addressing a press conference organised by Press Union Kailali in Dhangadi today.
"Apparently, upholding democratic norms and values is out of the league for the communist government.
That's why Congress must be ready to take the government's mantle," Mahat added.
Mahat, however, clarified that the party shouldn't go to the government under any other party's leadership. "It's true that our party is focused on the upcoming election, but given the present political fluidity, you never know we might have to lead the government for until the election," he said.
