NC suspends poll campaign fearing Maoist attack

Gorkha, April 1:

Nepali Congress has withheld poll campaigning in in Gorkha from today due to fear of Maoist attack. NC candidate in the constituency no 1 Chiranjibi Wagle said that the poll campaigning was withheld in 25 VDCs in the constituency no 1 and 3 after the information that the Maoists armed with homemade weapons were roaming around to attack NC cadres. Wagle came under Maoist attack when he was heading for Gahirung VDC four days ago.

The poll activities at the 15 VDC in the constituency no 3 was also suspended when NC candidate Chinkaji Shrestha was surrounded the whole night in his house at Aruchnaute VDC. A Maoist district committee member refuted the allegation and claimed that the locals were behind the incident.
