NC to ask district units to forward candidates’ list

Kathmandu, September 2:

The Nepali Congress (NC) today decided to issue circulars to district units of the party to recommend a probable list of its candidates for the upcoming elections.

The decision to this effect was taken today by a committee headed by NC central leader Laxman Ghimire following a meeting of the committee. The party had formed the committee headed by Ghimire last Thursday at the end of the party’s Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting.

The committee has said that the district and regional units of the party should recommend probable candidates who should be put on party tickets by September 16.

“We have decided to issue circulars to the regional and district units to suggest probable candidates. That will have to be done by September 16,” Ghimire said today.

The criteria which has been suggested by the central team is educational qualifications, degree of commitment to the party over years, contribution made in the restoration of democracy and popularity among members of the electorate.
