NC to coax Koirala for Mahasamiti meeting
KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress Central Committee members today said the party’s Mahasamiti meet scheduled from October 31 to November 2 in Birganj should not be cancelled, as it was imperative to make party’s view on contentious issues clear. The NC CC meeting on August 29 had decided to hold the Mahasamiti meeting.
NC president has been pressing the party office-bearers to do a rethink on holding the Mahasamiti meeting, stating that it would be costly to hold the meeting just four months before the party’s National General Convention. The party has scheduled its 12th NGC from March 10 to 14 in Kathmandu.
According to CC member Purna Bahadur Khadka, members said the meeting should be held after taking the party president into confidence. “The office bearers will talk to Koirala about the importance of the Mahasamiti meeting to make it successful with his active help and participation in the meeting,” added Khadka.
The party had decided to hold Mahasamiti meeting to finalise the major issues related to contemporary politics, constitution writing, state restructuring and the party’s revised statute.
