NC to wait-and-watch on PM’s pledge

Pokhara, January 2:

Senior leader of the Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba said the NC might interrupt the House proceedings again if the Maoists ignored to fulfill their commitment of returning properties seized by the Maoists to the government and commoners within three months.

Speaking at a press meet organised today by the Press Union Kaski here, Deuba said, “It was the NC’s responsibility to pressurise upon the Maoists for meeting their commitment to return the seized properties. It will go on warning the government against anarchy and lawlessness in the country as part of its role as Opposition in the Constituent Assembly. We are joining hands with other parties to evict the Maoists from the seized land and houses in cooperation with the administration.”

“Disbanding the YCL structure is a must for enhancing democracy,” he said. “Everyone should follow the democratic norms and values.” He further said that the talks regarding the dismissal of the Chief of the Army staff Rookmangud Katawal was only the Maoists’ dream.

“It is impossible to sack him immediately,” he added.

Maoists were intending to recruit their followers as priests in the Pashupatinath temple, he said, adding that the Maoists openly intervened into the religion, culture and tradition of the nation.
