NC’s public awareness bicycle campaign concludes

Dhangadhi, November 16:

The Nepali Congress’ Public Awareness Bicycle Campaign in Kailali concluded after the district headquarters, Dhangadhi, today.

As part of the awareness campaign, which began on November 6, interactions and corner meetings were organized at 40 places over 32 VDCs of the district, according to participants of the campaign.

Some programmes were also conducted in 16 secondary schools and higher secondary schools including Tikapur and Dhangadhi municipalities.

Speaking at the conclusion of the programme at Dhangadhi, NC president and team leader of the campaign, Govind Raj Joshi, said the Maoists maltreated them.

He accused the Maoists of double standards. On one hand, they say that are eager to ally with the political parties but at the local level they extort money from cadres of agitating parties, Joshi added.

“The night we stayed at Seukaliya VDC, some Maoists threatened the NC regional president of area 3, Lohari Chudhary, and also me at about 1.30 am,” Joshi said.The Maoists abused the NC cadres and threatened to subject them to extortion, Joshi said while addressing the concluding programme.

A dozen local NC leaders including Ram Singh Rawal, Bir Bahadur Hamal, Prem Joshi, Shantaram Chaudhary, Bhakta Bahadur Karki, Maniram Dewal, Ramlal Rana, Prem Chand, Sher Singh Khadka, Udhav Bahadur Bista and Govinda Raj Joshi participated in the programmes.
