NCP co-chairs discuss formation of party’s lower panels

Kathmandu, October 5

Co-chairs of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal and KP Sharma Oli today discussed formation of party’s lower committees and decided to hold the secretariat meeting at 4:00pm on Sunday.  This is the first meeting between the two leaders after they returned from their foreign visits.

Dahal’s Press Adviser Bishnu Sapkota said party leaders would discuss various issues, including formation of lower committees at the secretariat meeting.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s press secretariat member Ram Sharan Bajgain said the two leaders discussed lower committee’s formation and decided to further discuss the issues in the party’s secretariat meeting.

Asked if the two leaders also discussed party’s senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal’s dissatisfaction, Bajgain said, “The two leaders discussed issues related to lower committees and since Nepal is dissatisfied with the same issue, the two leaders obviously discussed that too,” he added.

The party’s establishment faction is miffed at senior leader Nepal for flaying own party’s government in the House of Representatives recently. Nepal was unhappy that the Dahal and Oli selected office bearers of provincial committees when he was attending a programme in Ghana. Nepal has also demanded that the party’s standing committee and not the secretariat take decisions on vital issues such as naming office bearers of the provincial committees.

Upon his arrival after participation in the United Nations General Assembly yesterday, Prime Minister Oli dismissed Nepal’s dissatisfaction, saying his arguments should not be taken seriously.
