NCP Dhankuta against caste discrimination, untouchability

Dhankuta, August 18

A meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party’s Dhankuta District Secretariat Committee decided to strip party leaders and cadres of membership if they were found practicing caste discrimination.

A meeting chaired by Dhankuta party chair Rajendra Rai today took a decision to this effect. The meeting dwelt on incidents of caste discrimination and untouchability at various places of the district. Party Secretary Rishiram Dhungana said NCP would sack leaders and cadres and strip them of the party’s general membership if any of them were found involved in discrimination.

Of late, the eldest brother Govind Subedi and another brother Durga Prasad, both NCP members, had not allowed their younger brother Mukund Subedi, also a NCP member, from performing the death rituals after their father died simply because he had married a Dalit girl.
