BHOJPUR: Nepali Congress candidate Mahesh Rai has been elected chairman of of Salpasilichho Rural Municipality in Bhojpur district.

NC's Rai, who garnered 1,674 votes, defeated CPN-UML's Khagendra Rai, who received 1,611 votes.

Meanwhile, UML's Dhan Maya Rai was elected vice chairman of the rural municipality with 1,473 votes.

She defeated NC and Federal Socialist Forum Nepal's joint candidate Bir Kumar Rai, who had secured 1,283 votes.
