Khadak Bahadur Shahi of the Nepali Congress has been elected to the House of Representatives (HoR) from Mugu district.
According to Chief Election Officer Min Bahadur Kunwar, Shahi secured victory with 7,914 votes. His closest rival, Purna Bahadur Rokaya of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist), received 6,718 votes, while Chandra Bahadur Shahi of the Nepali Communist Party garnered 5,558 votes.
Similarly, Bhuvan Tamata of the Rastriya Swatantra Party secured 530 votes, Bal Bahadur Malla of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party received 203 votes, Aitan Malla of the Pragatisheel Lokatantrik Party got 22 votes, and Rangabir Pariyar of the Nepali Communist Party (Maoist) secured 280 votes.
Out of the 36,031 registered voters in the district, 22,115 cast their ballots in the election held on March 5.
Shahi previously served as the district president of the Nepali Congress in Mugu.
Mugu constitutes a single electoral constituency for the HoR election.
