Nembang dubs blockade as serious crime
DAMAK: Former Constituent Assembly (CA) Chairperson Subas Chandra Nembang has said blocking the supply of essential goods to the country staging sit-ins at the no man's land was a serious crime.
At a press conference organised by Press Chautari in Damak in eastern district of Jhapa on Wednesday, he said that the Indian blockade adversely affected the normal life of Nepali people. He asked the Nepal government to engage in more efforts to settle the crisis through diplomatic channels.
"The government should proactively work out to rid the country of crisis resulted from the blockade. Both the countries should chase away those disrupting the border operations", he asserted.
The former CA Chairperson urged all sides to come to consensus since the Constitution is more inclusive and representative.
Noting that Nepal's northern border entry points should also be kept open to ensure smooth supply of goods, he, however, said that relation with India is convenient due to the geographical perspective.
"We want to keep close ties with neighbouring nations and it is obvious to expect so from them," Nembang noted.
