APF ex-AIG found guilty of corruption

KATHMANDU: The Special Court has sentenced former Additional Inspector General of Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Rishidev Bhattarai to nine months in prison and fined Rs. 7.9 million after finding him guilty of corruption.

The division bench of Justices Chandiraj Dhakal, Pramod Kumar Shrestha and Narayan Prasad Pokharel handed down the verdict today. Of the total 31.7 million rupees worth of property, Rs. 12.6 million was found to have no valid source of income.

The case of corruption was filed by the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) a year ago, alleging that Bhattarai had illegally amassed property worth Rs. 19.19 million.
