28 injured in Kavre bus fall airlifted to Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: As many as 28 people who were injured in the fatal bus fall in remote Birta Deurali of Kavre district were rescued and airlifted to Kathmandu for treatment, police said.

A Nepali Army helicopter brought the injured them to the Capital, while 15 others were sent to Dhulikhel on ambulances for treatment.

At least 33 bodies were collected from the incident site, according to police. The ill-fated passenger bus with registration number Ba 2 Kha 106 had plunged 500 metres down the road after the driver lost control of it, police said.

Among those brought to Kathmandu, 18 are admitted to the Trauma Centre while 10 are undergoing treatment in the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital.

Army helicopter airlifts scores injured in Kavre bus fall

KATHMANDU: A Nepali Army helicopter has airlifted 15 people, who were injured in the fatal bus fall in Kavre district of central Nepal, to Kathmandu in the first lot on Monday afternoon, an official at the Home Ministry said.

After dropping the injured in Kathmandu, the helicopter flew to the incident site again to rescue other people.

At least 31 people are confirmed dead in the accident at remote Birta Deurali of the district.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal had directed the concerned authorities to mobilise all resources available in the rescue operation.

The passenger bus heading to Madankudari of the district from Kathmandu had plunged 150 metres down the road, causing big human casualty at around 1 pm today.

The incident site is in remote Koshipari region of the district, around 45 kilometres away from the district headquarters and around 75 kilometres southeast of the Kathmandu Valley.
