NA squad defuses bomb in Rautahat

Rautahat, November 20

A bomb disposal squad of the Nepali Army defused a bomb planted by an unknown group at Hariharpur Bazaar area of Gujara Municipality-5 in Rautahat, today.

Earlier, locals had informed police after they saw a suspicious object wrapped with plastic on the road today morning. Nothing has been confirmed s to the type of bomb. It is speculated that the explosive might have been planted with the aim of disrupting election activities in the district.

The discovery of the bomb disrupted vehicular movement  for four hours and also left locals terrified ahead of the parliamentary and provincial elections .

Last Saturday, as many as eight activists from the left alliance sustained injuries when a bomb exploded during an election campaign near Radha Krishna temple of Chandrapur Municipality-5 of the district.

District Police Office, Rautahat, chief DSP Ram Kumar Dani said a probe into the incident was under way. He also informed that security had been beefed up across the

district in order to avert any such incident.
