Nepal, Bangladesh information commissions sign cooperation deal

KATHMANDU: Information commissions of Nepal and Bangladesh have recently made an agreement to exchange mutual cooperation regarding promotion of the right to information.

The National Information Commission team comprising Chief Commissioner Krishna Hari Baskota and Commissioner Yashoda Devi Timsina returned home after signing the agreement.

Baskota signed and exchanged the seven-point agreement with his Bangladeshi counterpart, Mohammed Golam Rahman.

The agreement focuses on exchanging bilateral meetings and visits, organising joint interactions and promoting human resource development.

The agreement is valid for next five years and both the sides have agreed to renew it upon the mutual consent.

Meanwhile, the Nepali delegation also called on Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu and discussed issues of mutual interests, according to a statement issued by the NIC today.

During the meeting, the Minister had said Bangladesh was ready to extend all possible support in bilateral cooperation about organising training programmes and conducting researches on the theme of the right to information.
