Nepal, China strike deal on border inspection

Kathmandu, March 4:

Nepal and China signed the minutes of the Third Session of the Nepal-China Third Joint Inspection of Nepal-China Boundary at a ceremony in Beijing. The session was held in Beijing from 1-3 March.

A Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) statement, the minutes include the formal signing of four documents related to the third joint inspection of Nepal-China boundary, initiated in previous meeting of the inspection committee in Kathmandu in October.

With the completion of the session, the finalisation of cost sharing arrangements concerning the Third Joint Inspection of Nepal-China boundary has brought down the approximated figure of $310,000 to $280,000 following persuasion by the Nepalis delegation, the statement said.

“Moreover, readjustment of costs under various headings in totality will result in the reduction of expenses related to Third Joint Inspection of Nepal-China Boundary to the tune of roughly $100,000 as the Chinese side has agreed to the Nepali proposal of providing training to Nepalis technical experts in the National Geomatics Centre of China.
