NCP cadres vandalise crusher plant, torch vehicles

Kavre, April 14

Netra Bikram Chand-led Nepal Communist Party vandalised Blue Shine Stone Crusher Industry at Namobuddha Municipality, Kavre, last night. The party cadres set a crusher machine, four tippers and two excavators on fire.

DSP Mahendra Marasini at District Police Office, Kavre, said a group of eight to 10 men had sprinkled kerosene and set the equipment in the industry on fire. The crusher industry is owned by Nepali Congress district leader Kunsang Lama. The group had left the site chanting slogans against Lama afterwards.

Meanwhile, Nepali Army bomb disposal team diffused three pressure cooker bombs planted near the industry at  Chaukidanda this morning. A CPN leader from Janakpur-Sagarmatha bureau said the party cadres had vandalised the industry to intimidate Lama. “A case against Lama was filed at the party office,” he said. The party said locals had filed complaints against Lama, saying the crusher industry posed a threat to environment.

Police said there were eight workers in the industry on Friday night and probe into the incident was under way. Property worth around Rs 30 million was destroyed in the incident.
