NCP leader Basnet slams Dr KC

Pokhara, October 1

Nepal Communist Party (NCP) leader Mahesh Basnet today criticised Dr Govind KC for forcing the government to not allow medical colleges to open inside Kathmandu valley for ten years.

Speaking at a press meet in Pokhara, Basnet said it would not be in the interest of people and the country to send students to institutions abroad by banning new medical colleges in Nepal. “When we speak against Dr KC, big media houses portray us in a negative light. Dr KC’s stance on banning new medical colleges shows his collusion with the health mafia,” Basnet charged.

On the remarks made by NCP (NCP) senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal in the Parliament, Basnet termed Nepal’s remarks ‘irresponsible’. “It is erroneous to say the country is about to sink,” Basnet stated. He clarified that leaders deemed close to Nepal were given due space and responsibility while fixing the in-charges and chairs of the seven provinces.

Basnet also asked the government to check the growing incidents of rape, murder and violence and provide security to people.
