CBS collecting details of loss in 14 quake-hit districts afresh

KATHMANDU: The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) has started collecting details of loss incurred in the districts affected by the April 25 earthquake.

According to CBS Information Officer Pramod Raj Regmi, engineers have been assigned for gathering the details of losses in some earthquake-hit districts -- Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Dolakha, Sindupalchok, Ramechhap, Okhaldhunga, Sindhuli, Kavrepalanchok, Nuwakot, Rasuwa, Gorkha, Dhading and Makawanpur.

Regmi informed that the task of gathering details of damage will start in Dolakha district from next week.

Though the Natural Disaster Rescue Committee distributed ID cards to earthquake survivors in the districts, the gathering of loss details is taking place on the ground as per the need of the government and donor agencies, Regmi added.

"It will completely be fresh data," he said, adding the comprehensive data of the houses would be collected under three categories -- completely damaged, partially damaged and minor damage.
